On January 5th, 2021, I flew with a one-way ticket to study at the University of Oxford. It was the height of the global pandemic. The city of dreaming spires was a ghost town. Borders closed just two days after my entry, but I never looked back. I was the first person in my family to study at Oxford: I had to make the best of my time by pursuing my dream of becoming a fiction writer.
Since January 2021, the job market has become more competitive than ever before. A bachelor’s degree effectively costs 400,000 USD, equivalent to the median cost in America for purchasing a house. There are more graduates applying with master’s degrees from the Ivy Leagues and Oxbridge and fewer jobs with each evolution of AI technologies.
What I believe remains the most essential skill is knowing how to tell your story. Universities accept students. Companies hire workers. People want people. Knowing how to craft your story and knowing what your audience wants provide the best roadmap to success. That’s what I drill as a college essay coach, someone who’s been rejected and accepted by the University of Oxford.
One Parent’s Testimonial, whose twins will attend Boston College and Notre Dame:
“As parents, we were especially grateful for Griffin’s responsiveness, organization, and calm guidance throughout every stage of the process. His feedback was always constructive, insightful, and encouraging. Even though Griffin lives in England, he consistently made time for sessions despite the time difference. My sons both had demanding after school schedules, yet Griffin was always flexible and accommodating, especially during the hectic December rush when deadlines and essays were piling up for everyone.”
With my one-way ticket to Oxford, I’ve graduated with an MPhil in English Studies (Medieval) with Merit from Linacre College, Oxford. My stories have been shortlisted in contests judged by Man Booker Prize Chairs. I’ve worked as the Director of the Oxford Writers’ House. Investing in my future has paid the same dividends that your children seek for their futures.

I coach students through all aspects of university admissions to help them chart a similar journey to university. Through my oversight, my students raised their SATs into the 99th percentile, gained direct insight from graduates of their target universities, and earned merit scholarships to fund the cost of tuition. These schools include Princeton, Notre Dame, St Andrew’s, College of the Holy Cross, LSE, Cal Poly, William & Mary, and many others.
